Selling your store
You built something valuable. Let’s make sure you get paid for it.
Most teacher-authors have no idea what their store is worth, what a buyer will ask to see, or how a hand-over actually works. I’ll walk you through every step, from your first number to the final transfer.
How selling works
- Know your number. We look at your earnings and trends over the last four years, and what will and won’t transfer, and check whether your profit can pay someone a fair wage to run the store. That decides whether it’s valued as a business or as a set of products.
- Get sale-ready. Clean up licensing, document your systems, and fix the things that lower your price.
- Find the right buyer. I share your store, confidentially, with buyers on my list who are a good fit.
- Agree on terms. Price, payment structure, what’s included, and how long you’ll support the new owner.
- Hand it over. A clear transfer checklist so nothing gets lost and your customers stay happy.
Ways I can help
Store valuation review
$150 USD/hour
A 60-minute session where we go through your real numbers together. You leave with a realistic price range and a list of what to fix first.
Sale-ready package
$150 USD/hour
Valuation plus a full prep plan: licensing audit, product clean-up priorities, a seller summary buyers will want to read, and a transfer checklist.
Full sale support
$150 USD/hour
Everything above, plus I introduce you to qualified buyers, support negotiations, and guide the hand-over through to the finish.
What buyers will ask you for
- Up to four years of earnings reports, with a clear trend
- Proof that clip art, fonts and images are licensed for commercial transfer
- Your top products and how much of your sales they make up
- How many hours a week the store really takes, and what you actually do
- Social accounts, email list, Pinterest boards and any website that comes with it
Not sure you have all of this? That’s exactly what the sale-ready package is for.
I’m a business consultant and fellow teacher-author, not a licensed business broker, lawyer or accountant. For legal agreements and tax advice on a sale, I’ll always recommend you bring in a professional.
Thinking about selling, but not sure yet?
Send me a DM and tell me where your store is at. If it makes sense to work together, you can book a paid session and I’ll put real eyes on your business.
